How do I know whether counselling, psychotherapy or life coaching is right for me?

You don't need to know before getting in touch. During our free introductory consultation, we'll discuss your concerns, goals and what kind of support may be appropriate. Counselling and psychotherapy can help you explore emotional and psychological difficulties, while life coaching focuses more on personal goals, decisions and practical changes. Sometimes our conversations may draw on elements of more than one approach.

What happens during my first consultation?

Your first 30-minute consultation is free. It's an opportunity for us to get to know each other, talk about what brings you here and consider whether my approach is suitable for your needs. There's no obligation to continue afterwards.

How much do sessions cost?

The initial 30-minute consultation is free. Subsequent sessions cost £60 per hour. You can arrange appointments through the website's online booking system.

Do you offer online counselling for ADHD, autism and dyslexia?

Yes. I have extensive professional experience supporting neurodivergent adults, and I'm neurodivergent myself. We can explore difficulties involving self-awareness, emotional regulation, relationships, workplace expectations, stress and everyday life. Our conversations are tailored to your individual experiences rather than assuming everybody with a particular diagnosis has the same needs.

Do I need a formal diagnosis before booking?

Not necessarily. If you're experiencing difficulties that you'd like to understand better, we can discuss them without requiring you to arrive with a diagnosis. However, this service does not provide formal diagnostic assessments for ADHD, autism or other conditions.

Can you help with anxiety, depression or stress?

These are among the concerns I support people with. Together, we can explore what you're experiencing, identify contributing factors and consider suitable strategies, potentially including grounding techniques and approaches informed by CBT, DBT, ACT and solution-focused therapy. Where more specialised or urgent clinical support is needed, I'll encourage you to access appropriate healthcare services.

Will you tell me what decisions I should make?

No. My approach is collaborative and coaching-led. I'll offer honest conversation, professional perspective and practical guidance, but the aim is to help you understand your circumstances and make decisions that are meaningful and appropriate for you.

What are grounding techniques?

Grounding techniques are practical methods that may help you reconnect with the present moment when feeling stressed, anxious or overwhelmed. Depending on your circumstances, we can explore suitable techniques and how they might fit into your daily life.

Are our conversations confidential?

Confidentiality is fundamental to the service. Sessions are not recorded, and neither party may record consultations. Information is handled in accordance with the practice's privacy and confidentiality policies. There are important legal and safeguarding circumstances where confidentiality may have limits; these will be explained before therapy begins.

Can I invite my partner, family member or someone else to a session?

Sessions are normally one-to-one. Another person may only participate with the client's explicit consent and prior agreement about their involvement.

Do you prescribe medication?

No. Although I have previously held prescribing responsibilities in clinical practice, I do not prescribe medication through this service. Where appropriate, I can help you prepare for discussions about treatment options with your own doctor and guide you towards relevant professional services.

Can I access your services from outside the UK?

Consultations are delivered online in English. International enquiries are welcome, although availability may depend on whether providing the service is appropriate and permitted in the country where you are located.

Do you offer workplace wellbeing support for businesses?

Yes. I welcome enquiries from organisations looking to support employee mental wellbeing, navigate workplace stress, improve self-awareness or explore neurodiversity-related challenges. Corporate arrangements can be discussed individually according to the organisation's needs.

Do you offer support for addiction?

Yes, addiction-related concerns are among the areas I have professional experience supporting. We can explore the challenges you're facing and discuss appropriate next steps. Where specialist addiction treatment or medically supervised withdrawal is needed, I can help you identify appropriate services.

Is this service suitable for emergencies or people in immediate crisis?

No. This is an appointment-based counselling and coaching service, not an emergency or crisis-response service. If you are in immediate danger in the UK, call 999 or attend A&E. For urgent mental health help in England, NHS 111 can direct you to appropriate support. If you are outside the UK, contact local emergency or crisis services.
